A Lifetime of Learning

Welcome to my portfolio. I am an Acadia University and  Western University graduate who has been teaching with the Durham District School Board since October 2018.  In Summer 2020 I relocated back to the East Coast and am living in Halifax, Nova Scotia. In September 2020 I was hired with the HRCE. Here you will find all my necessary application information, as well as some information on who I am, what I do and how I do it. I consider myself a life long learner and am looking forward to the opportunities to better myself as a teacher through daily reflection as well as personal and professional development.

Designing and Implementing Online Classroom

-I was able to develope and execute a fully online classroom during Covid-19.

-I was able to communicate and coach parents effectively in nagivating and using the online classroom with their children.

Report Card & IEP Writing

-I was able to gain experience writing report cards and IEP's for my students for both semesters.

Grade 3 EQAO

-I was able to create an EQAO preparation plan, carry it out with my students and administer the Mathematics portion of the test.

Numeracy Coaches

-I was given the opportunity to work one on one with Durham District School Board numeracy coaches in the school to learn how to properly find and use board approved resources, administer and moderate PRIME and create a data driven approach to lesson planning and how to properly create rich and purposeful lessons. The coaches were also invaluable in being available to answer my questions about creating and following an EQAO guide that best fit my students unique social and learning challenges.

Extracurriculars

-As an LTO on staff at the school I was able to get involved in extracurriculars such as, the talent show, junior girls' basketball, holiday concerts, recognition assemblies and Track and Field Day.

Co-teaching

-As a .5 LTO I shared a classroom with another teacher who taught the latter half of the day with the same class. We shared a classroom and collaborated in EQAO planning, classroom management as well as report card and IEP writing.
